AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
The aims and objectives of STEPS UP, involve education and empowerment. The ultimate goal is to enable self-sufficiency for our service users and their families, as they achieve success in:
- Their day-to-day living
- Their personal career plans
- Enhancing their skills and abilities
- Enabling successful workforce opportunities
After all, as the old adage states:
‘Give a man a fish and, you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and, you feed him for a lifetime’.
It is this message which the Centre of Help and Hope (CHH) has embraced, leading to the faith-filled birth of STEPS UP, incorporating lifelong learning in all of its facets.
As such, STEPS UP will focus, primarily, on four areas as follows:
‘I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand’ (Confuscious)
Comprehensive services, increasing education levels to attain educational goals.
Proven curriculum will be accessed, for example, as is available from the Open College Network (OCN). Professionally qualified and skilled staff/volunteers will be utilised to provide high level services.

Practical educational and empowerment training will be delivered, to enable skill building, facilitating access to employment along with growth in chosen careers.
Personal goals will be realised along with a knowledge of opportunities for training and work, involving the full recruitment process.
